“Be you, and be relentlessly you. That’s the stuff of champions.”- Lady Gaga’s response to critics who said her tummy wasn’t skinny enough at the at this year’s Superbowl.
I don’t know how, a girl can be chosen to perform for a Superbowl, dance, sing, look amazing, wow the crowd, push back nerves and be one of the top performers in this country and the criticism still flows. Even if you’re not a fan (I don’t own a song of hers on ITUNES) the philosophy of how she got here is evident.
You do you. I do me. If the world is beating you up, just love yourself. Here’s the thing: if you love yourself, you’re likely okay with someone else, too. They are working on themselves. No one is perfect. No one has to like your cooking, your viewpoint or your spouse, your fashion sense, your bootie or your sarcasm. You do you. Be the best you. You have a responsibility to be something of worth, to a child, your parents, society, your employer, spouse, and place of worship. Maybe especially to someone you really, truly, don’t understand. You’re incredible.
I dare you: be relentlessly you.
Love the life you never wanted.
Be mostly happy with yourself.
